Where are the lights?
It was New Year's Eve. Marina Bay was filled with crowds. A joint event by the URA and the TV station happening by the Floating Platform. The backdrop is the famous skyline of Singapore. Stunning it should have been...but where are all the lights? Buildings are so dark, except the Singapore Land Tower. What has happened? I thought most buildings would be lighted up in celebration of the New Year, and only be switched off about half hour before the fireworks display at 0000hrs.
Other then the Singapore Land Tower, you could also see the Bank of China lighted up. Beauty it creates to the skyline at night on New Year's Eve. But hardly any other buildings are lighted up fully in their grand beauty. Sad...this is so sad...
If we are to learn from Hong Kong, more needs to be done. Look at Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour, a true beauty example for their New Year Celebration.
Why our buildings are not firing fireworks anymore? But one difference that Singapore could be proud of (I guess so), is the up closeness to the fireworks at the Bay. Because our Marina Bay is actually quite small, thus creating a very close experience to the fireworks, creating a awesome experience. Whereas the Victoria Harbour is much larger, thus the distance is further. Overall, it is still quite a disappointment at the Bay.
