It's more than the concrete
Was clearing the newspapers and I chanced upon an article regarding Queenstown, which made me remember some random photos of that area I took sometime back at random dates. I have no idea of the exact dates. Even if I dig out the negatives and look at the developing dates, it is only an estimate. But I am quite sure that all these were taken between 2009 to 2010.
As I said before, it is about the individual homes that build up the area. Every unit has its own story, and when all the individual stories come together, it creates the full story, the story of Queenstown. Moving out and moving on is never easy. It marks a new chapter. Nothing is wrong with a new chapter, but it is sad as sometimes nothing of previous chapter is remained as the new chapter begins. All that is left are just memories, images and words.
Not too long ago I visited the library. It was then that I found out that all the hustle and bustle that was still there at that time, were only from the churches, library and only a few shops. Others are vacant and quiet...
Today, has the area changed further? I wonder. As 2011 moves on, soon the bulldozers will move in and bits and pieces of it will be gone, only leaving some structures with the purpose of leaving something visible behind that will remind everyone of a certain time, a certain era, a certain chapter.
