The flower dome

It's the World Orchid Conference, and it is held in Singapore for the second time. But sadly, I am really not much of a flower person. Sunflowers are nice. Orchids are interesting. But somehow flowers generally don't seems to excite me as much as structures. At the end of the day, I think the money spent to admire orchids was a waste, as I only found myself enjoying the spectacular structure of the flower dome, before it officially opens next year June.

Rewind back to 2000, I think the most spectacular, modern, mind blowing and latest structure in Singapore was the Esplanade. Today, look around Singapore, there's so many interesting, spectacular, intelligent structures sprouting up and around, which many are award winning works. Although I don't find all award winning works are worthy of winning whatever they won, but the point I'm driving at is that, quite a few structures that have been built and are currently being built in Singapore over the recent years are so much different from 10 years ago. Nowadays it's all about sustainability, eco-friendly, intelligent, greenery, and the list goes on.

Enough of sprouting my thoughts. Below are photos snapped using the Ultra Wide Slim camera, with a 'mind blowing' lens of 22mm. The film used was Agfa Vista 400. I think it is supposed to produced rich colors, but I don't think the following justifies it, which I think it has to do with the surroundings. The only colorful thing there was mainly flowers, which I didn't took much of, so things you see are mainly white, black, grey and green.

This is a intelligent feature. When the heat is too much for the plants, these shades will automatically opens itself to lessen the impact of heat (mainly from the sun, I think), so that the temperature within the dome will be just nice for the plants.
