Colonial gems

I've no idea in which year an official lighting plan for the civic district was first launched. However, I'm certain there must have been revisions to the plan over the years. After all, further down at what used to be the sea, much land had been reclaimed and much development have appeared over the years. Regardless of the changes over time, one thing is certain - these colonial buildings just seems to look better than it was with every cycle of refurbishment. All thanks to various painstaking actions taken by the various parties, today we have such gems to admire and ponder about.

One of the main contribution to such beauty, is none other than the lighting schemes adopted. Without these lighting schemes, the area at night would no doubt, become really dull.

And things are surely getting better. The former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings are at its final stages of completion for its total transformation into the National Gallery Singapore. The Victoria Concert Hall and Theatre completed its latest round of refurbishment last year. Furthermore, the open spaces within and around the civic district is currently under some kind of massive redecoration works. By next year, the whole civic district would definitely become more pleasant for its visitors. With all these continuous enhancements, would we one day start to miss those times when things were much simpler?
